Simple Tips For Rain Gutter Cleaning

Before you begin cleaning your gutters with any of the different tools or even with the gutter brush, you want to put safety ahead of all of it. Be sure you have a safe and secure extension ladder that is propped up against the side of your house, not your guttering. This is the most important safety tip of all. The last thing you want to be is yet another statistic of a fall from a ladder.

Next, have a pair of rubber gloves to use in cleaning out the sticks, leaves, birds nests and other debris from your gutter channel. Why wear gloves? I can tell you from firsthand experience that there is a lot of sharp metal and screws sticking out that will easily slice a finger. I’ve had it happen and I learned real quick to wear gloves.

Finally, use your water hose to clear the gutter of any leftover debris. That’s it, you now have a clean gutter.

All About Using A Leaf Blower To Clean Your Gutters

There are a number of various ways to get the leaves out of your gutters, the gutter brush being one of them. But you can choose from a variety of gutter cleaning tools when it comes time to doing this task, but one that you may not have thought of before is a leaf blower. It has some really good advantages, but on the other hand it also has its share of disadvantages to.

What I like about this method is that it is faster than manually grabbing the leaves and debris by hand. You simply use the leaf blower to clean out the gutter channel of all the leaves and you’re done. Sounds like a cool deal.

The disadvantages to this are that the leaves will need to be dry in order for it to be real effective. So, if you have water sitting in your gutters, this method won’t work real well unless you like blowing water and debris everywhere. Even when they are dry you can definitely stir up a lot of pollen, allergens and dust, so be sure to wear a mask.
